The Marland Family

About this Site

JavaScript Tree Menu

This website was started originally by Geoff Marland of Colne, and is now run by  Catherine Haines, born Catherine Marland.  It aims to be:

  • a source of information on the family, wherever it is to be found
  • an archive of the data from my One-Name Study of the Marlands
  • a library of pedigrees

How this site works:

The key to finding your way around is the navigation on the left, which works much like the folder and file "tree" in Microsoft Windows, i.e. the plus sign expands a list and the minus sign collapses it. The names and the file symbols are links to the pages.

On some pages there are pull-down menus at the top, linking to other pages in a series, or to locations in the same page.

Currently, we are concentrating on listing vital data on Marlands from Birth-Marriage-Death registration and from Parish Registers, starting with nineteenth-century marriages. At some time in the near future, we hope to publish some of the genealogies which can be deduced from these data.

How to find Marland marriages after 1837:

If you know the name of the person, or the marriage year, look at BMD Registry‑Marriages in the list on the left of the screen. This will tell you where the marriage took place. If it is in a church, you will find full details of most marriages under Parish Records‑Marriages.

Please tell us about your own researches, and share your problems with us.
